The 1000 Island Fluid Dynamics Meeting, affectionally known as TIM, is a technical meeting and retreat held in a casual setting for researchers from Ontario, Quebec, and the North East of the United States who work in fluid mechanics and heat transfer. It is an ideal environment for graduate students to present their work and interact with the local fluid dynamics community. The meeting starts on the first day around 5:30 PM with dinner and closes two days later at approximately 1:30 PM after lunch.

Presentation and Papers

Two forms of presentations are available at the conference. A regular Oral Presentation and a Rapid Presentation.

• Regular Oral Presentations are 10 minutes long with 2 additional minutes for questions; the same format as APS-DFD.
• Rapid Presentations are designed for new students, who wish to present an overview of their work. These are 3 minutes each.

The type of talk should be reserved when registering by checking the appropriate column on the Registration Form.

All participants wishing to make a presentation must submit a 1-page abstract for their paper in electronic PDF format using the Abstract Templates. 

A projector and pointer will be provided during the technical talks. Presenters are reminded to bring any and all adaptors they might need for their laptops and to create a PDF backup in case of technical difficulties.
